What was your OSINT highlight of 2022?
The role of OSINT in the war on ukraine - both in a bad and a good way.
What emerging (good or bad) trends did you notice over the past year?
Good: More and more people (who were not into this yet) started to realise how powerful OSINT actually is. (See highlight of the year.) Bad: Still a lot of media coverage was done without making use of that power, pushing unverified content.
Any favorite tool or technique that you tried in 2022?
It’s the simple things, something like a background removal tool to improve your RIS, that keep impressing me. And the fact that is mostly more of a mindset than tools.
How do you see the OSINT landscape changing in 2023?
I would expect there to be more tools coming up trying to make use of AI to better support the verification process.
