What was your OSINT highlight of 2021?

The Corona pandemic offered more OSINT then ever before. People not being able to travel made them spend more time online. With that utilizing Social Media showed more information than ever seen before.

Also, the pandemic showed that the world is more polarized then ever. This has been seen in propaganda and demonstrations online as well as physical all over the world. OSINT techniques and tradecraft can provide great insight in this global polarization.

Personal highlight: Authoring a brand new Advanced OSINT course and helping catch a child predator and preventing a school shooting using OSINT tools and tradecraft.

The good trend is that I see the OSINT community grow. People helping each other in case work as well as sharing knowledge.

The bad trend is that I can see some groups join the OSINT community with unclear and potential bad intentions.

Any favorite tool or technique that you tried in 2021?

My mind.

How do you see the OSINT landscape changing in 2022?

The urge for more scalable (automated) tools will grow due to the vast amounts of data points that grows every day.

So the main change will be less manual work and more automated tasks that can grab vast amounts of data that need validation and verification, which in the end will always be a manual (human) process .

Do you have a blog / Twitter account / Company that you’d like to share with the community?

Anything else you’d like to add about The State of OSINT?

Never stop learning and keep sharing and spreading the knowledge.
